STEP 4: Provide well-directed professional development and training to target key improvements.

Newly released guidance for teachers’ professional development identifies an approach which we have advocated for many years in that all professional development should directly relate to school improvement priorities.
We can provide several avenues of assistance:

  • Tailored school based training to address the school improvement priorities.
  • Individual course places, providing highly targeted support to one or two individuals.
  • Coaching and mentoring support – either on an individual basis or a small group basis.

Assessing the impact of professional development

Support visits, which take place each term asses the progress towards achieving core priorities meaning that the impact of professional development is assessed termly.
