PBM are delighted to announce three new mathematics courses.

PBM Training and consultancy are delighted to announce the creation of three new mathematics courses.

The three courses all focus on the new primary mathematics curriculum. The courses have been created in response to requests from schools and delegates to help teachers to overcome many of the new difficulties and challenges that they now face in light of the new mathematics curriculum.
How to embed reasoning and problem solving into every lesson, as the title suggests explores the nature of mathematical reasoning and problem solving. The course looks at how reasoning and problem solving can be embedded throughout the maths curriculum. Delegates will learn how to put problem solving at the centre of maths lessons, and how to teach children to think mathematically.

Mastering mathematics in the Primary classroom aims to provide teachers with an insight into what is meant by a Maths Mastery Curriculum. The course explores ways of delivering maths lessons from a maths mastery perspective. By the end of the course, delegates will have gained a deeper understanding of how to develop their students deep structural knowledge of mathematics and how to put an investigative attitude at the heart of all maths learning.

Primary Mathematics: Skills knowledge enhancement with pedagogy is a four day course which is designed to help teachers to meet the demands of the new primary curriculum. This course is designed to help primary teachers to develop their own skills knowledge confidence and ability in order that they might develop their students understanding of mathematics. The course focuses on aspects of teaching primary mathematics which research suggests are effective. The course is content rich and looks at Number and calculation, Fractions and decimals, Geometry, and Algebra and statistics.

The tutor for the three courses is exceptionally well received. His workshops provide practical ideas that can be used within the classroom straight away. Delegates comment on the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, his depth of knowledge and his engaging manner.

“Very good tutor, highly enthusiastic, engaging and helped to ensure we felt confident and comfortable”
“A relaxed comfortable atmosphere. If you didn’t understand or made a mistake the tutor helped.”
“Great course, lots of practical ideas that can be used tomorrow. Thankyou”
“Using practical equipment and seeing connections really helped me develop my subject knowledge”

The courses will be provided at PBM’s conference centre in Uttoxeter Staffordshire or they can be provided as in-school training. To read a full description of each of these courses please use the links above. If you would like to view the full range of numeracy and literacy courses please READ MORE
