The current emphasis during inspection is to ascertain what behaviour is like typically at a school rather than simply during inspection, therefore a detailed behaviour evaluation is needed.

This intensive one day course looks in detail at how to effectively evaluate current practice and strategies to improve attendance and encourage good behaviour. Throughout the day there will be many tips and tools that can be used to ensure that school monitoring and tracking procedures are incisive, lead to an accurate evaluation and result in effective plans of improvement being created. The current emphasis during inspection is to ascertain what behaviour is like typically at a school rather than simply during inspection, therefore a detailed behaviour evaluation is needed. This course helps participants to understand how to develop a robust evidence base that can be shared with senior leaders, local authority, academy sponsors and OFSTED detailing the effectiveness of provision.

Securing good attendance requires a concerted sustained whole school approach and needs to improve over time. This course will help you  ensure your attendance systems and procedures are robust and explore strategies that can be used to track and monitor attendance as well as tackle poor attendance.

There will also be opportunities to share good practice from other settings

Aimed At

This course is aimed at headteachers, principals, senior and middle managers including subject and phase leaders, leaders of departments or school improvement teams and anyone with responsibility for tracking and analysing behaviour and attendance including governors. It is appropriate for practitioners from Nursery, Infant,Primary and Secondary schools and can be attended by those from mainstream, independent, special and academy settings.

Tutor information and feedback

The tutor is an experienced headteacher, trainer, and consultant and he is also a serving inspector. He has an outstanding track record with the company and his courses are well received. In addition to his current headship and his role as an inspector, he works as a Learning Consultant and is involved in providing leadership training packages. During his teaching career, he has provided in-service training to primary schools. Before becoming a deputy headteacher of a large primary school he was also a Strategic Manager of Teaching and Learning, a role which involved working with colleagues developing pedagogical expertise and know-how. All of this tutors previous headships have been in schools in challenging social contexts. He has led his previous school out of the category that it was placed in at the time of his appointment. It was judged as good at the last inspection. During the four OFSTED and HMI visits he has been praised for his dynamism and vision as a leader. This tutor specialises in providing training and consultancy focusing on all aspects of school self evaluation; data analysis, pupil premium and middle and subject leadership.
