Course details

This one day course helps participants understand, develop and manage the appraisal process. It explores statutory requirements and provides opportunities for practical application of appraisal systems. The training is very practical in nature, giving participants the opportunity to discuss appraisal and reflect on practice.

  • Successfully navigate your way through the appraisal cycle
  • Prepare for the appraisal meeting and utilise self-appraisal forms
  • Conduct successful appraisal meetings
  • Meet statutory requirements
  • Write a concise appraisal report, drill down targets and set annual objectives and expectations
  • Check progress and evaluate impact over time using classroom evidence
  • Identify whole school needs and whole school improvement priorities
  • Take home a toolkit containing ready-to-use editable templates

Headteachers, senior/middle leaders and team leaders in primary and secondary schools who are responsible for the appraisal and performance management of teaching staff.
